A tall fireman lifted Pepper up and walked toward the fire truck. Then, he stopped and turned back around.

“Come on you two! You’re getting a ride in the fire truck back to the station with us,” he said. “I think we’ve got some hot dogs in the kitchen. Get it? HOT dogs... Ha ha! We need to celebrate!”

The other firemen cheered and Simon and Pepé looked at each other, grinning from ear to ear.
